How to keep yourself constantly motivated

There are moments in our lives when we just don't have any motivation. We feel bored and frustrated, but just don't have enough interests to do anything, not even to play and rest a bit. Those moments are not only wasteful of our time, but also greatly harmful to our mental health.

I tend to think that our motivation is like the tyre. As time goes by, the tyre slowly loses air, just as we slowly lose momentum. Then it gets deflated if we do not pump the tyre in time. Once it's completely deflated, it's even harder to get it pumped up.

So the secret to keep us motivated is to regularly pump up our motivation when we sense that it's going down. And there are a few ways that I find very useful.

1. Look at people who are highly motivated. We can be naturally affected by other people's motivations. If you couldn't find someone in real life that can keep you motivated, look at some people on the Internet. Today such kind of people abound on Youtube, on Quora, on Instagram, and all the other websites, or even just a figure from Netflix.

2. Stay away from people who are not motivated. Just as we can be motivated by highly motivated peopple, we can also be easily contaminated by people who are not motivated.

3. Remember a past experience where you felt full of energy. It may help if you take a picture of the books you are reading, or the food you are preparing for yourself, just to save for the days when you don't want to do anything. Journaling could also be helpful if you have the mood to do some writing.

4. Look for new things. Very often, the lack of new information or new experiences is behind our lack of momentum. These new things function as stimuli to our mind. It can be as small as having coffee in a new place, or try out a new dinner menu. Life is full of different colors.
